Roadmaps

This toolkit uses translational roadmaps to guide researchers through the complex process of translating research findings into health benefit. The outlined steps reflect the considerations that need to be taken into account when translating research findings. It is important to note that not all stages may be applicable depending on the nature of your innovation, the process may not always follow a linear pathway, and not all stages are intended to take place within the university. Some activities may take place, for example, in a spin-out company or be carried out by external partners.

Please select each of the roadmaps below to access a detailed list of activities corresponding to the different stages of the translational pipeline. We have identified six strands of activities that we have mapped to the different stages (strands overview). While the roadmaps are tailored to the UK/European market, similar processes may be applicable to other markets, such as the US.

Although the focus of the roadmaps is on medical devices, some of the concepts and guidance may apply to healthcare innovations more widely.
